Ms. Weaver’s 2nd graders played a Gingerbread Time to the 5 Minutes board game, and they LOVED it! 🍪🎲

Students rolled the dice, moved their game piece around the board, read the analog clocks, and then marked off the matching digital times in the center. They were so excited to show what they’ve learned🎄🕒

What would’ve happened if the Gingerbread Man crossed the river without the fox? 🤔🍪

Friday, Ms. Owens' class changed the ending of the story and brought our text to life! In a hands-on experiment students discovered what really happens when a gingerbread man hits the water… and let’s just say, the results were dramatic!

Students used their sense of touch to feel the gingerbread man turning soggy, and their sense of sight when—before they knew it—he was GONE!

On Friday, our second-grade students took part in a Vocabulary Parade. Each student selected a vocabulary word and dressed up to represent it. We are proud of the creativity and talent demonstrated by our students at MJE.

Olivia's goal was a perfect score and we are proud to celebrate her success. She is pictured with her 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Qualls and her current teacher Mrs. Rushing. Help us congratulate her on this great achievement!

Today, Miss Byrd's kindergarten class worked hard at combining festive fun with important literacy skills.
They practiced writing letters to Santa as part of a lesson on sentence structure and clear communication. They focused on starting their letters with a proper greeting, forming complete sentences and adding details to express their thoughts! This activity not only encouraged creativity, but also reinforced essential writing skills in an engaging & seasonal way. 🎄🎅🏻

We deeply appreciate our teachers. Today, they took time to share gratitude by writing notes for each other and placing them on a co-workers turkey. Our students are truly fortunate to have such exceptional educators.

Mrs. Lofton’s students had so much fun creating their own Thanksgiving turkeys!

We practiced counting skills by using cereal pieces to make colorful turkey feathers. Students were given a number, and they had to count out the exact amount of Fruit Loops to match it before adding them to their turkey. This hands-on activity helped reinforce number recognition, counting, and fine-motor skills—all while getting into the Thanksgiving spirit! #MJEchampions

Mrs. Horton's 1st grade class used their imagination today and created their very own balloon float. Students listened to "Balloons Over Broadway" and talked about the process it takes to create one of the balloon floats. They are excited to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade to see if there is a balloon float like their own flying high! #PerseverancePropelsProgress #LearningLeading #MJEchampions

Ms. Weaver’s and Ms. Qualls’ second graders came together today for a special Friendsgiving! 🧡

We enjoyed our ‘Thanksgiving feast’—popcorn, jelly beans, pretzels, French toast cereal (shaped like bread), just like in “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!”The kids turned and talked to share someone and something they’re thankful for, then listened to the story together while enjoying their snack. Grateful for friendship, laughter, and this sweet second-grade family!🍁🦃🤎🧡

Congratulations to our 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Qualls for winning a $1000 grant from Alabama Power Foundation. The grant will be used to support Mrs. Qualls’ project title, “Putting Geography in the Hands of Students.” She plans to provide students modern, hands on resources, including updated maps, durable interactive globes, and cultural knowledge through games. She cannot wait to help her little learners be rich in geographic literature. The enhancement of these skills will also aid the students to understand and interpret complex information, which is essential for advanced reading comprehension, problem-solving, and data interpretation.  #PerseverancePropelsProgress #LearningLeading #MJEchampions
