We at Alba Middle School will celebrate our 8th graders with an Honors Day program to recognize their achievements this year. Family is invited to come celebrate with us at the ceremony. We also invite parents, family, and friends who are unable to attend the ceremony to view the live-stream on our website and Facebook page, as we want you all to be a part of this special day.
The ceremony will be Tuesday, May 19 at 9 A.M. in our gymnasium. It will last a little longer than an hour.
Students and parents- we are providing a clarified dress code for the 8th grade honors day ceremony here. We have had many questions from students about what would be acceptable for them to wear on such a momentous occasion. Please read below and make sure that your planned outfit falls within these guidelines:
8th graders should wear clothes that are nice, but not extra dressy or too casual. Absolutely no jeans, leggings, shorts, sweatpants, flip flops, or t-shirts are to be worn. Students do not need to wear homecoming dance style attire to this ceremony. Save that for the formal.
Suggested Clothing:
Boys can wear dress pants (no jeans) and a button-up shirt or three-button shirt.
Girls can wear dress pants (no jeans) and a nice shirt, or a skirt and blouse, or a dress. Absolutely no rompers. Pantsuits are acceptable. Girls need to be aware that they cannot wear skirts or dresses that are too short, as these will appear even shorter when the girls walk across the stage. No strapless dresses can be worn. If your blouse or dress is sleeveless the straps must be at least an inch wide, or you must wear a jacket over your shoulders. If you choose to wear shoes with heels make sure that you are comfortable walking in them. You will walk up a flight of stairs and across the stage.
Instead of their uniforms, students will wear their ceremony clothes to school and wear them until they go home. They do not need to bring a uniform to wear after the ceremony.
If students do not wish to dress up for the ceremony they can wear their school uniform of khaki pants/shorts and red polo shirt. Please note that a school t-shirt can ONLY be worn if the student is entirely in school uniform that day.
Some reminders:
Please do not wait to bring your student until right before the ceremony starts. Please have your student at school on time. We need to get them prepared for the ceremony before we start. We typically do a run through during 6th and 7th period the day before. Please make sure students are here.
Students will be given a copy of the ceremony program in the folder with their certificates. We will have copies for
parents, but if those run out they will receive one in their folder as well.
Please be mindful of others if you bring gifts for your 8th grader to the ceremony. We want to make sure everyone can see their student. Balloons will have to be left outside or in the gym lobby.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office by calling 251-824-4134.

Your feedback is very important in helping us improve our school and provide the best possible learning environment for your child.
Please take just a few minutes to complete both surveys. Your voice truly makes a difference.
